In early November, our Crisis Intervention & Support Team took a major step forward by convening our inaugural summit in Philadelphia. Survivors from school shootings came together and created a powerful, necessary moment for our movement, and an opportunity to help each other heal and build a future rooted in care. These educators and experts are actively building the prevention infrastructure our schools have been asking for — for decades!
This episode features survivors from school communities who have been impacted by gun violence: Columbine, Sandy Hook, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Sparks Middle School, and Santa Fe High School. You’ll hear their experiences with gun violence, what the summit meant to them, and how the Crisis Intervention & Support Team will help others.
At Teachers Unify, we believe that those who have lived through these experiences are the most qualified to lead the way toward solutions. This episode is a testament to the strength, expertise, and courage of the educators who refuse to leave their communities to navigate these challenges alone.
