Friend,

It’s starting to feel like Groundhog Day in Connecticut. Remember when President Trump issued a stop-work order on Connecticut’s offshore wind development back in August? Construction of the wind turbines was already 80% complete, and the President’s nonsensical order jeopardized a project that will reduce strain on our electric grid, bring down prices, and provide energy for more than 350,000 households.

Connecticut took the Trump Administration to court, and a federal judge (appointed by President Reagan, for what it’s worth) agreed that the President lacked justification for halting the project. In November, the Administration missed [[link removed]] its deadline to appeal, allowing Connecticut workers to return to their jobs.

But last week, the Trump Administration once again announced that it is halting work on the project. It’s insane to grind work to a halt simply because the President prefers burning coal to generating energy from renewable sources like wind. Moreover, it’s yet another example of the President trampling on the rule of law by ignoring the judge’s decision, declining to defend his position in court, and proceeding to do whatever he wants.

I had Governor Lamont’s back last time Trump tried to block offshore wind development, and I’ll have his back again. It’s time for the President to stop playing politics with your energy bill.
