John,
Trump and Republicans continue to find more money for illegal wars and an immoral mass deportation scheme that is tearing families apart while the costs Americans pay for food, housing, and healthcare continue to rise.
Starting January 1st, monthly out-of-pocket health insurance premiums more than doubled for tens of millions of people on the Affordable Care Act health insurance exchange. As a result, an anticipated four million people will lose their healthcare as they’re forced to choose between putting food on the table and keeping their health insurance.
But now, House Democrats have succeeded in gathering enough signatures to force a vote to renew the Affordable Care Act tax credits that have been keeping health insurance more affordable for tens of millions of people.
Add your name to demand Congress renew the ACA subsidies and keep healthcare more affordable for working people and families. We need both the House and Senate to act now.
In my home state of Michigan, nearly half a million people are impacted, with families and older households being impacted the most.
For example, while a single 45-year-old earning $62,000 who gets their health insurance through the ACA exchange will pay roughly $1,470 in higher health insurance premiums this year, a 60-year-old couple earning $82,000 will see their health insurance costs rise by $18,400 while a family of four earning $126,000 will see an $8,400 increase this year.
Republicans have handed trillions of dollars in tax cuts to the rich and corporations. Trump continues to illegally withhold from states millions of dollars that have been appropriated by Congress. They made the largest cuts to Medicaid and SNAP in the programs’ histories. And they’re saying we can’t afford to make healthcare more affordable for tens of millions of people? That’s an outrage.
Add your name now to demand Congress renew the ACA premium tax credits to keep healthcare more affordable for tens of millions of people.
Together, we’re demanding Congress invest in people, not tax cuts for billionaires and an immoral mass deportation scheme.
In solidarity,
Rashida
