John,
Congressional Republicans are ripping health care away from millions of people in order to hand tax breaks to billionaires.
That was the tradeoff when Congress passed their Big Brutal Bill, cutting more than $1 trillion from Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act. And now, starting January 1st, monthly out-of-pocket health care costs have skyrocketed for tens of millions of people. More than four million are expected to lose their health insurance entirely.1
Thankfully, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is forcing a vote in the House on health care affordability. Jeffries has secured the 218 signatures needed on his discharge petition to restore the expired ACA enhanced premium tax credits and the House will vote this afternoon on renewing these essential subsidies.
If more members of the House support a clean extension of the subsidies, it increases the likelihood that the Senate could act quickly.

We’ve heard from people across the country on how skyrocketing health insurance premiums are impacting them:
From Cincinnati, OH:
“I am a senior living on my pension and savings, and my monthly ACA health insurance premiums just rose from $10.07 to $293.57. Needless to say, I can't afford government healthcare anymore even though my taxes fund it and the healthcare that ALL of Congress enjoys. This is taxation without representation AND a backdoor way to privatize all healthcare in this country.”
From Oakland, CA:
“As a cancer survivor who is in debt to the tune of $11,000 and currently unemployed, I depend on these subsidies to keep me insured. Without them, I will be forced to forgo both being insured and my check up appointments with my oncologist for fear that the bills will be exorbitant.”
Because of inaction by Congressional Republicans, tens of millions of people are now grappling with skyrocketing out-of-pocket health care costs. Click here to demand Congress act now.
