Homelessness and housing program trends by state
Homelessness is rising. In 2024, more than 770,000 people experienced homelessness, up from 653,100 people in 2023. On any given night, hundreds of thousands of people across the country don't have a safe and stable place to sleep.

Urban’s data tool, Homelessness and Housing Program Trends by State, monitors the most recent data on homelessness and housing inventory, illustrating the scale of the issue and the federal and state resources dedicated to addressing it.

Discover trends in your state and learn where resources are most needed to support permanent housing solutions.
