Team, five years ago today, a violent mob stormed the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election results in Donald Trump's favor.
Police officers were attacked. Capitol staff and members of Congress hid, fearing for their lives. Hundreds of people were injured. People lost their lives.
Haley was there. She remembers. And she knows who's at fault.
And yet. Donald Trump issued a sweeping pardon of everyone involved in the Jan. 6 insurrection.
This is a gross injustice and a MASSIVE abuse of presidential power, team.
It is an insult to every Capitol police officer, staff member, and member of Congress who was there that day, as well as every American – because it was OUR democracy that was under attack.
And it is yet another reminder that whether it's election denial, attacks on our freedom to vote, or trying to rig maps in his favor, Donald Trump will stop at nothing to undermine the will of voters and cling to power.
That is why, as we remember the lives lost, the injuries, and the grave threat our country faced five years ago, we are asking supporters in Michigan and across the country to condemn President Trump's actions.
