The killing of a U.S. citizen by ICE in Minneapolis today is horrifying, tragic, and unacceptable. Our hearts are with the victim’s family, friends, and the community that is once again mourning a life stolen by federally-sanctioned violence.

The right to observe, protest, and speak out against injustice is fundamental in a democracy. When federal agents answer those rights with bullets, it is not only a profound moral failure – it is a threat to the very foundation of our country.

This must be a turning point. ICE must be held accountable, and Kristi Noem’s Department of Homeland Security must answer for its actions
