Greetings Friend,
The U.S. House Small Business Committee’s Subcommittee on Rural Development, Energy, and Supply Chains ([link removed]) has invited ASBN to participate in an upcoming congressional hearing examining the impacts of AI data centers being sited in rural communities.
The hearing is on Wednesday, January 21st at 10:00 AM ET, and they need to hear from small businesses, ranchers, and community members about the real-world impacts of AI data centers.
We are seeking to elevate real-world business perspectives from our membership and are inviting ASBN members and our broader business community to share unique stories that illustrate how these large-scale developments are affecting rural economies and communities.
Testifying before Congress is a powerful opportunity to ensure rural and small-business voices are part of the AI and infrastructure conversation. This is your opportunity to inform federal policymakers with grounded experience.
Testimony scope
Relevant impacts may include, but are not limited to:
* Effects on business operations or local supply chains
* Conversion or loss of productive farmland
* Energy demand, grid constraints, or utility costs
* Water usage and water-stress concerns
* Environmental or social impacts on rural communities
* Workforce, housing, or infrastructure pressures
Deadlines
* TODAY through Friday, January 10th: Business owners are able to commit to testifying in person in Washington DC. We will then work with you to prepare.
* Tuesday, January 13th: Let us know you intend to submit written testimony
* Wednesday, January 21st (by hearing time): Final written testimony due
If you are interested, please fill out this form ([link removed]) , and we will be in contact to help you prep. If you’re on the fence, feel free to fill out the form, and we’ll be in touch to talk over any questions you may have.
Thank you for your work and for building the business case for a better world,
