Friend — ICE’s constant escalation and provocation under Trump has come to a fatal, predictable conclusion.

Hours ago, a US citizen observer of ICE operations in Minneapolis was shot inside her car.

This reprehensible killing must be investigated immediately, but I will tell you right now: The video of the incident does not look good. It does not look like a case of legitimate self-defense. It looks like an over-zealous police force that is far too quick to fire upon its own citizens.

But that isn’t stopping ICE, DHS, and Trump himself from lying to the American people about what happened as you read this email.

Friend, Trump has turned ICE into a personal enforcement squad, deploying it as a tool of intimidation in Democratic cities and states. These operations have terrorized communities, torn families apart, violated civil rights, brutalized protesters and legal observers—and now, someone is dead. This is not immigration enforcement. It is political punishment, carried out to sow fear and chaos.

I will continue to demand answers as we learn more about this devastating shooting, and I will push relentlessly for a full investigation, accountability, and justice.

We cannot become numb to this kind of violence. We must push to end the needless, reckless actions of ICE and Trump’s entire mass deportation agenda, and put forward our vision for a common-sense immigration system that treats everyone like human beings.
