Without Congressional approval, Donald Trump invaded Venezuela and kidnapped their President, Nicolas Maduro.

Trump’s actions are criminal and negligent. The blowback will endanger us all and threatens to drive the world closer to the brink of total war.

He admitted he did it to seize the country’s oil and line the pockets of the oil barons who spent hundreds of millions to get him elected.

And even worse, he’s threatening to do it again. This time in Mexico, Cuba, Greenland, and Columbia.

Trump’s warmongering is a danger to us all.

He wants to return to the bloodsoaked era of imperialism, a period in history that led directly to two world wars and tens of millions of deaths worldwide.

So much for “America First” and “no more foreign wars.” Instead, Trump is threatening a massive regional war of pure greed and imperialism to enrich his oil baron donors.

The abdication of duty by Trump sycophants like Lauren Boebert has enabled this. Last year, a bipartisan War Powers resolution was introduced that would have required congressional authorization for U.S. military action in Venezuela. That resolution failed by just two votes. Boebert was one of those “No” votes.

The constitution is clear. Only Congress can authorize war. As Trump threatens a regional war to boost corporate profits, its essential Congress reclaims their constitutional responsibility and prevents him from dragging our country into even more endless foreign wars.
