Yesterday’s death of GOP Congressman Doug LaMalfa, just one day after the departure of Marjorie Taylor-Greene leaves the GOP with a microscopic 218 majority - a two vote advantage over Democrats. 

Given the voting record of Thomas Massie (R-KY), who Trump is currently at war with over the Epstein files, the GOP majority is now effectively a 1 vote majority. 

The alarms are flashing bright for MAGA. Whereas yesterday Trump had the entirety of 2026 to continue implementing his agenda before potentially losing the house/becoming a lame duck president, that timetable now stands to be drastically reduced. 

If the GOP loses one more seat (note - there are multiple special elections coming up) it is over for MAGA. The House becomes deadlocked or worse, they lose their majority. In response, MAGA is announcing extraordinary measures to cheat and shore up their House majority:

Trump and the GOP are moving heaven and earth to ensure that no matter what they do not lose the House to Democrats. If they continue redistricting red states at this rate, which they have every intention of doing, these efforts will succeed. We will never hold the House again. 

The only recourse Democrats have to ensure we are able to reclaim the House is by fighting back and redistricting in blue states. California and Virginia did it and now Colorado and other blue states must follow their lead if we hope to survive until 2028. 

This is why Colorado Draws the Line is introducing the ballot measure (nearly identical to California’s Proposition 50) that will let Coloradans vote to level the playing field, make CO bluer, and erase 3 MAGA seats.
