Happy New Year!

As we welcome 2026, the team at Power to Decide is more determined than ever to ensure that everyone has access to birth control and sexual and reproductive health care. While 2025 brought its share of hurdles, it reminded us of the power of this community. As we navigate a midterm election year and relentless attacks on reproductive health care access, Power to Decide will continue to fight against misinformation, update our community on federal and state policies affecting SRH and how to fight back, and engage with a community that leads with impact.

Power to Decide’s Social Media Highlights for the End of the Year

To wrap up 2025, social channels shared timely information, responded to a fast-changing political landscape, and made space for important conversations.
  • Beyond the Sheets was featured in an Essence GU article, spreading awareness about the need for programs centering young people to share culturally relevant content and approach systemic barriers to health access through localized efforts.
  • Bedsider joined a viral conversation after a popular influencer claimed that wanting to use condoms is a red flag and “ruins the vibe.” Our channel reminded young people that someone wanting to use condoms is a major green flag and a sign of care, respect, and shared responsibility, not judgment.
Social media allows us to interact with our audiences in real time, leveraging viral moments to engage in meaningful conversations through facts and trusted information.

SRH in the Media

Across the media, headlines continue to spotlight both the challenges and opportunities people face while navigating today’s chaotic and confusing reproductive health landscape. Power to Decide’s programs and resources have been featured in outlets nationwide, helping cut through the noise and connect people with the care and information they need.
A recent sampling of press coverage that includes our voices and resources:
Impact + Profit Conference
In December, Power to Decide was honored to join Population Media Center (PMC) and acclaimed showrunner Rosy Ocampo at the annual Impact + Profit Conference in Los Angeles to share the sexual and reproductive health impact of the hit telenovela Papás Por Conveniencia.

The event was hosted by the Social Impact Entertainment (SIE) Society and the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs. Our panel offered a behind-the-scenes look at how Papás Por Conveniencia combines powerful storytelling with research and expert partnerships to educate, entertain, and drive ratings success. In its first season, the series averaged 6M nightly viewers in Mexico City, and helped drive a nearly 18% increase among adolescent viewers who agreed that condom use is essential to prevent STIs.

One of the conference’s highlights was a powerful call to action from actor, producer, author, activist, and icon Jane Fonda, who urged creators to use their voices to protect free expression and to keep telling stories that matter.
Your support helps us expand access to trusted tools and advance reproductive well-being for all!

Administration Implements Anti-Abortion VA Policy

Over the holidays, the Trump-Vance Administration quietly implemented a new policy– rolling back abortion access for veterans, their eligible family members, and caretakers. They followed this up with a new federal regulation, codifying what amounts to a complete ban on abortions and abortion counseling at the Veterans Administration (VA). Prior to this ban, the VA permitted counseling and coverage of abortion in cases of rape, incest, or life and health endangerment. With nearly 300,000 women veterans of reproductive age who rely on the VA for health care, this new ban will result in the denial of necessary medical care, even in the worst of circumstances. For more information, read our statement here, and stay tuned for more ways to fight back!
