It’s no secret. Fossil fuel executives fund American corruption, imperialism, and fascism. Anything for more oil.

Peter Singer, a billionaire and a top Trump donor, purchased Citgo (the US based subsidiary of Venezuela’s state-owned oil company) through his investment firm just two months ago.

Two months later, Trump kidnapped Venezuela’s president, and is promising to “run” Venezuela. It’s Iraq all over again.

Now, Pete Hegseth is retweeting memes about the Donroe Doctrine, a reference to the imperialistic Monroe Doctrine under which America laid claim to the entire Western Hemisphere. They want to colonize the west again, just to feed their oil addiction.

With one hand, they overthrow governments in Central and South America, while with the other, they send ICE into neighborhoods to deport the refugees and immigrants created by their chaos.

The only thing that can beat back this authoritarian overreach is a movement that understands that fascism and fossil fuel corporations are working hand in hand to constrain our present and destroy our future, all to make their pile of gold bigger.

Our generation has grown up with that understanding. For as long as we’ve been alive and longer, the US has been spending trillions on regime change in oil-rich countries, then turning around and telling Americans we don’t have enough money to pay for healthcare or schools.
