John, 2025 was a
big year for our movement.

We had some victories:

 1. Several cities in Utah launched “Project Childsafe” which provides
free gun locks and education about the importance of locking firearms
away in a safe place.
 2. Governor Tina Kotek of Oregon signed a gun safety bill that bans
rapid-fire devices and clarifies where firearms can and cannot be
carried.
 3. After one of their classmates was shot on campus, hundreds of high
school students in Oakland walked out of class calling for an end to
gun violence.

As well as some setbacks and tragedies:

 1. In 2025, there were at least 391 mass shootings and 13,929
gun-related deaths in the United States.
 2. The recent shooting at Brown University cost us two beautiful lives,
injured nine additional students, and devastated an entire community.
 3. President Trump disbanded the Office of Gun Violence Prevention which
our team worked very hard to create under the Biden administration
and replaced it with one designed to make it easier to put guns in
dangerous hands.
