John,
Yesterday marked five years since January 6 — the day a violent mob attacked the People’s House.
I stood on the House floor to say what needs to be said out loud, even when some folks would rather deny history. No tweet. No post. No spin. No ugly, lie-filled website from the Trump admin can change what happened that day.
Brave Capitol Police officers were beaten while protecting our democracy. They showed real courage. And instead of honoring them, they’re still being disrespected and even blamed for what they endured that day. The law says a plaque must be hung to remember their service, and the Speaker is refusing to do it. There is no excuse for that moral failure.
I’m standing up and speaking out. And if you’re able, I’m asking you to chip in today so I can keep doing exactly that — telling the truth, holding people accountable, and showing up for the folks who count on me.
CHIP IN TODAY!
I also joined House Democrats yesterday to pledge that we will never forget what January 6 was: an attack on our democracy, on the rule of law, and on the simple idea that the people get to choose their leaders.
I take this personally. Not as a politician…as a human being.
Back home in Vermont, I see high school kids trying to figure out their future in the worst housing market in the country. I hear from families stressed about healthcare and mental health care. I talk to small business owners getting squeezed by corporate greed and monopoly power. People want fairness. They want a system that works for them. Not a system that only works for the powerful.
Democracy isn’t some abstract word. It’s whether your voice matters. It’s whether the rules apply to everyone. It’s whether your kid has a fair shot at a good life.
That’s why I fight, with both grit and heart.
So, if you can, I’m asking you to chip in $5 today — one dollar for each year since January 6 — to help me keep showing up, speaking the truth, and protecting our democracy.
Every single dollar matters this year. It helps us organize, communicate, and build the strength it takes to win tough fights, the ones that actually make people’s lives better.
Thanks for being in this with me. I don’t take your support for granted, not for one second.
With so much gratitude,
Becca
