Tell the Administration You Oppose Harmful Offshore Oil & Gas Development
Dear John,
Our treasured ocean life is in danger. The Trump administration just proposed a drastic expansion of offshore oil and gas development, while simultaneously seeking to dismantle safety rules put in place to prevent oil spills. Expanding offshore drilling, while at the same time making it less safe, threatens not only marine wildlife but also public health, coastal communities, and our global climate.
The administration's recent proposal includes a plan to hold 34 offshore oil and gas lease sales over the next five years, which would auction off 1.27 billion acres of ocean habitat, including untouched ocean areas off Alaska, California, and the Gulf Coast of Florida. This reckless plan puts innumerable ocean species--like polar bears in the Arctic, sea otters off California, and Rice's whales in the Gulf--in the direct line of fire.
Don't wait: Submit a public comment to the administration rejecting this pro-oil, anti-wildlife plan, and tell your member of Congress to support legislation that would ban offshore drilling off US coasts forever.
