It’s only 7 days into 2026, and the Trump administration has launched new attacks on immigrant families. See the tracker pages linked below for more details and links to primary sources. -
HHS: The Administration for Children and Families illegally froze $10 billion in child care, TANF and SSBG funding for five blue states, asserting allegations of fraud and access by ineligible immigrants. And, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California issued a new preliminary injunction in the Medicaid data sharing case that allows limited data sharing with DHS in the plaintiff states.
- USDA: Secretary Rollins sent a letter to the Minnesota governor demanding immediate recertification of all SNAP cases in select counties. Minnesota’s Attorney General filed a lawsuit challenging this demand.
-
DHS: In good news, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Rhode Island granted plaintiffs’ Motion for Summary Judgment. The court ordered that DHS cannot withhold homeland security grant program funds from states that do not cooperate with federal civil immigration priorities.
