I hope your year is off to a happy and healthy start. As 2026 begins, I'm
ready to get to work—and I hope you are too.

A new year means our lawmakers are back on the job. And it's time for them
to do what they were elected to do: fight for the safety and the
well-being of our communities.

This year, our work in state legislatures across the country enters
important new territory. I look forward to working together to continue to
hold the gun lobby accountable and push for lifesaving policies,
including:
- Stopping gun trafficking: the pipeline that funnels hundreds of
thousands of illegal guns into our communities every year.
- Banning assault weapons: the exceptionally deadly firearms used again
and again in mass fatality shootings.
- Building on hard-won victories in states like California to address
emerging threats, including DIY machine guns, 3D-printed firearms,
unserialized "ghost guns," and Glock switches.
- Defending against dangerous rollbacks like permitless carry and other
reckless bills that undermine public safety.

And at the federal level, Congress is officially back in session, and our
elected leaders are returning to Washington, D.C. This is a pivotal year:
All 435 House of Representatives seats and more than 35 Senate seats will
be on the ballot later in November.

We'll be watching closely—celebrating progress and calling out any action
that puts our safety at risk.

And right now, that risk is real. The gun lobby-backed Republican majority
is already pushing to pass a federal Concealed Carry Mandate: a dangerous
bill that would override state laws and allow people from other states to
carry concealed guns in public in states that wouldn't otherwise let them.

At the start of a new year, our lawmakers should be working on new, smart
policies that make our communities safer—not putting us in harm's way.

to vote NO on the Concealed Carry Mandate.
