Over the weekend, Donald Trump carried out an illegal and reckless
military action in Venezuela without congressional authorization.

At a moment when families are struggling with skyrocketing health care
costs, unaffordable housing, and the everyday costs of groceries and
prescription drugs, Donald Trump wants to put American lives and taxpayer
dollars on the line so his billionaire allies can profit off another
country’s oil and minerals.

The American people don’t want another generation of forever wars. Neither
do I.

That’s why I voted last month in support of two War Powers Resolutions
that would have prevented actions we saw this weekend and stopped further
military escalation in the Caribbean. But ultimately, Republicans defeated
the measures.

As we head back into session this week, I’m pushing for new War Powers
Resolutions to prevent further military action in Venezuela and to block
the expansion of this dangerous pursuit of other countries’ natural
resources.

But the reality is this: as long as Republicans control the House, it will
remain harder to stop this reckless escalation and hold Donald Trump
accountable.

Taking back the House this year is essential if we want Congress to serve
as a real check and refocus our government on lowering costs and improving
people’s lives here at home.

up the fight to prevent a new era of forever wars, power our efforts to
reclaim the House this November, and finally hold this administration
accountable.
