John, I'll put this plainly:
This is not about Maduro and drugs. This is about oil, natural gas, and rare earth minerals. And it was an unconstitutional declaration of war on an impoverished sovereign nation.
Under cover of darkness, Trump bombed and invaded a sovereign nation, and kidnapped its leader. He illegally declared war when the Constitution grants authority to declare war only to Congress. Now, Trump looks to establish a puppet leader who he can corrupt while seizing Venezuela’s natural resources for himself and his billionaire buddies.
So this operation wasn't about drugs or drug trafficking like the administration claims. Don't believe Trump’s lies.
This was an act of war, as the first step in a plot for Trump to enrich himself and his billionaire buddies who own oil, gas and mining companies.
John, we're supposed to live in a nation that separates power among three branches of government to prevent abuse like this, but Trump and his cronies have continued to evade accountability thanks to the MAGA majorities in both houses of Congress, and a MAGASupreme Court that has given Trump immunity for his illegal acts.
That's why I've introduced legislation to reform the Supreme Court to make sure no President can act above the law and recklessly send our sons and daughters to war to protect his oil profits.
Today, will you sign my petition to stand with me against an unconstitutional act of war and help me urge my fellow Congress members to hold Trump accountable for these offenses to our country?
