Hi there,
You hear a lot of politicians talk about “lowering costs.” I want to show you what that actually looks like in practice.
This week in southern Nevada, I stood alongside child care providers and working families to highlight my Small Business Child Care Investment Act — bipartisan legislation to make child care more affordable and accessible.
Here’s the reality families are facing right now:
In Nevada, three out of four kids don’t have access to a licensed child care provider. Parents are being forced to choose between keeping a full-time job and caring for their kids — and that’s unacceptable.
My bill tackles this head-on by allowing nonprofit child care providers to access the same low-interest SBA loans that for-profit businesses already use. That means providers can:
• Expand capacity and reduce waitlists
• Hire more staff
• Keep costs down for families
• Invest back into our local economy
I've heard directly from parents who were paying $425 per week, per child for care — until it became impossible. No family should be put in that position.
This is what delivering results looks like. Not slogans. Not talking points. Real solutions that help families afford work, raise their kids, and stay in the middle class.
But I’m also being honest with you: this work makes me a target.
I’m one of the most targeted Democrats in the House, and national Republicans are already spending heavily to defeat me. As a DCCC Frontline member in a district decided by less than 2.8%, every ounce of support matters.
If you believe in leaders who don’t just talk about lowering costs — but actually do the work — I hope you’ll stand with me today.
Can you chip in to help me keep delivering real results for Nevada families?
With gratitude,
Susie Lee
