Email from Arlington Community Foundation We promised one page for easy year-end giving. We did not promise a short impact list. From a record-breaking Nonprofit Holiday Wish Catalog to scroll-worthy impact Because of you, the 2025 Nonprofit Holiday Wish Catalog became the biggest one yet, raising nearly $240,000 for local nonprofit year-end needs. For context, that's about $63,000 more than last year's (then-record-breaking) Wish Catalog! The Wish Catalog may be a single page, but what you have funded through it is the kind of impact you have to scroll for (in this possibly record-breaking length e-mail). So get ready to exercise your best scrolling fingers, and take a look at this joyfully long list of what our community helped fund through the Wish Catalog: A month of food for 100 families through an emergency food pantry. Lights and heat kept on for 20 families. Essential period products and undergarments for at least 500 women and girls. 111 month-long household essentials packs for families. A new coat and a pair of shoes for 100 children. 50 three-course dinners for neighbors facing hardship. 82 weeks-worth of nutritious meals for homebound neighbors. 68 culturally relevant student supply kits for Arlington public schools. At least 3 diverse author visits for Arlington students. A full year of free youth programming for 50 kids. 10 environmental education and service events reaching 250 students. 100 comfort teddy bears for grieving children and 100 holiday gifts for grieving kids. Eye exams and two pairs of glasses for 25 students. 100 teen intake sessions, or 10 full months of therapy access for teens. $500 in essential support for 10 cancer patients (rent, utilities, groceries). Ongoing practical help and social support for 10 lower-income seniors to age in place safely. 2.5 months of fuel for a wheelchair-accessible senior transportation bus. ASL interpretation for 5 performances so more families can fully access live theatre. 67 learn-to-knit kits for people facing medical challenges. 98 hours of STEM education for underrepresented girls. 47 sets of afterschool snacks, or 24 sets of art and STEM materials. Practical summit support for 100 first-generation and immigrant college students. 11 scholarships for retired federal employees (each covering a one-year membership and one course). 148 hands-on STEM kits delivered to classrooms. 9 full weekend packages (lodging and meals) for a special-needs athlete. 13 refurbished bicycles for neighbors who need reliable transportation. 5 half-day home safety repair projects for older adults and neighbors with disabilities. Essential furnishings toward apartments for 15 families transitioning from homelessness. 6 days of emergency crisis-response care for a trafficking survivor. 20 Sundays of live music at a community farmers market, or 10 Sundays of community outreach. 5 ADA-compliant picnic tables needed along the Mount Vernon Trail. A mentorship and professional staged reading platform for 5 student playwrights. 100 bereavement self-care packages for families following the loss of a baby. If you've made it this far, your scrolling fingers have earned a breather. So here's more of this year's Wish Catalog impact, in paragraph form: Your giving also helped neighbors cover winter-stretch essentials like meals, transportation, phone access, prescriptions, and emergency stability. You strengthened trails and outdoor learning, expanded afterschool enrichment and STEM exploration, supported theatre and music access, widened access to mental health and communication supports, brought dental care and legal services closer to the people who need them, helped returning citizens and immigrant families pursue stability, and backed everything from community art and local history to environmental protection, safer homes, and a stronger sense of belonging across Arlington. If you made it all the way down here, your scrolling skill deserves a medal and so does your generosity.
