Friends,
On Monday I was honored to be elected Chair of the County Board by my colleagues. This morning I write to share my remarks on the difficult moment we are in and the hope I will bring to the work ahead in 2026.
In my remarks I shared my view that as Dr. King might have said, we are in a midnight moment, but that joy will cometh in the morning. My four priorities to help us meet the moment are: (1) stabilize our economy and position us for recovery, (2) protect and serve our most vulnerable, (3) keep our community safe, and (4) invest wisely in our schools, environment, and young people.

My Remarks at the County Board's Organizational Meeting on Monday
In 2021 during the middle of COVID, I also had the honor of serving as Chair. I am mindful of the responsibility and public trust you and Arlington as a whole placed in me then and place in me now. I am determined to meet this difficult moment and to be as good as the Arlingtonians I have the extraordinary opportunity to serve.
