MAGA is in love with the ideals of the slave-owning Confederacy, before the messiness of equal rights became a focus for America.

They glorify the Confederacy so much that at Trump’s direction, the people who waged war against the United States in 1861 are being honored anew as heroes worthy of our adulation. Pete Hegseth is renaming military bases after Confederate generals, directly violating a 2021 law that banned the practice. And Trump is having Confederate monuments reinstalled across the country. 

But things get truly ridiculous when MAGA attempts to lay claim to the principles of the Revolution AND the Confederacy. 

Five years ago today, on the morning of January 6, 2021, Boebert declared the start of a Second American Revolution (the same was said by Confederates when they declared war on the Union):

MAGA is in reality more like a Confederacy of Dunces. They are extremely dangerous. 

These historical fantasies and macho fever dreams of glory led thousands to the steps of the Capitol — who then, at the direction of Donald Trump and with weeks of careful planning by conspirators like Lauren Boebert, launched the most violent coup attempt since the Civil War.

The next time Trump or Boebert call for disrupting an election or throwing out the results of one, he and his goons will be fully in charge of the federal government. 

We have to act now to defeat Boebert by indisputable margins. 

Boebert barely squeaked out her re-election, winning by only 546 votes. When Democrat Trisha Calvarese ran against her in 2024, she had the best performance a Democrat has ever had in the district—outperforming Kamala Harris by 6 points in a red wave election.
