John —
Yesterday, the House voted to remove Confederate monuments and statues from our Capitol. This was long overdue.
These painful symbols of bigotry and hate have no place in our country. Confederate monuments glorifying traitorous men who betrayed this country should not be memorialized for their quest to keep African Americans in chains.
It's past time we shatter the binds white supremacy has on this nation. We must denounce all symbols of systematic racism that uphold slavery, oppression, and dehumanize Black and Brown people in America.
My bill to remove Confederate monuments was passed in the House, but the fight does not end here. I need your help even further: Will you stand with me in demanding the Senate vote to remove ALL symbols of hate from the Capitol and beyond? [[link removed]]

Residents in all 50 states and millions of people around the world have marched to protest racism and police violence directed at people of color, and yet across the country, Confederate statues and monuments still pay tribute to white supremacy and slavery in public spaces.
Today, we have an opportunity to heal this nation. It’s past time we dismantle the systems that hold us back. Thanks for standing with me.
In solidarity,
Barbara Lee
