john,

Today marks the fifth anniversary of January 6, 2021—the day a violent mob, encouraged by Donald Trump, tried to overturn the results of a free and fair election. And the truth is, the threat hasn't gone away.

Kim has been hearing from people all across our district—whether they've come to a town hall, called Kim's office, or written in response to one of her emails—that they are scared for what's to come of our democracy under the leadership of Donald Trump and his GOP yes men.

And, frankly, they have good reason to be.

Look at the pattern we're seeing unfold from Donald Trump since he took office again last January:

* Silencing media outlets and attacking anyone who refuses to stand behind him and his reckless agenda—directly undermining the First Amendment.

* Directing his Attorney General to target and sue political opponents in an effort to intimidate and silence opposition.

* Attacking vote-by-mail and other measures that make it easier for people to cast their ballots.

* Defying court orders and threatening the independence of our judicial system, even going so far as to threaten states that don't align with his policies, and sidestepping state authority.

These are not isolated incidents, john.

Trump has gone out of his way both during his time in office and outside of it to fundamentally undermine our trust in the democratic process to set the stage for his self-serving, anti-American leadership.

Kim wants you to know that she's been listening, and that in the House, she's doing everything she can to fight back and ensure that your concerns are being prioritized by someone who shares them. But we have to go the extra mile and elect a blue Congress this November to ensure our system of checks and balances is back in place.

Winning this November isn't just about electing more Democrats than Republicans to Congress; it's about choosing leaders who will stand up for our values and fight to protect our country from tyranny, not work alongside the president to impose it. Kim is doing her part to help Democrats win on Election Day, but she needs your help. Will you chip in today to protect our democracy and support candidates who will stand up to Trump, not embolden him? >> [link removed]

Thank you,

Team Schrier
