Five years later, January 6th remains a national disgrace.

I don’t care what party you belong to. Storming the United States Capitol was wrong. Threatening elected officials was wrong. And pretending it didn’t happen is not just dishonest; it is dangerous. It should not be controversial to say that.

Yet my own opponent, Republican Derek Schmidt, chose to feed the very lies that led to that chaos. He denied the results of the 2020 election and even signed onto a lawsuit attempting to overturn the will of American voters. That is exactly the kind of reckless and divisive behavior that is poisoning our politics.

As an Army veteran, I took an oath to defend this country. I still take that oath seriously. That is why I am running for Congress. We must return to a time when integrity matters, when the rule of law matters, and when the country comes before ego and power.
