We need to talk about what’s happening in Portland, Oregon.

Trump and his Homeland Security chief Chad Wolf have deployed secret, unmarked federal officers who are snatching protestors off of the streets and detaining people without reason for arrest. These untrained federal officers have already shot one protester and continue to kidnap anyone they see on the streets without charges.

It’s an unconstitutional abuse of power. This administration has made it clear they will stop at nothing in this war against protestors and the Black Lives Matter movement. We will not tolerate these draconian tactics.

Reports are coming out of Portland that these unmarked officers are arresting folks without reading their Miranda rights and denying access to an attorney.

Arresting anyone who disagrees with your political agenda is unacceptable. In this moment of crisis, Trump is choosing to ignite the flames of violence and unrest. Police and law enforcement should be working to protect our rights to free assembly, not attacking peaceful protesters.

When Chad Wolf was asked about possible future plans to deploy more secret police forces in other cities he responded saying, “I don't need invitations by the state, state mayors, or state governors to do our job. We're going to do that, whether they like us there or not.”

Wolf has made it clear he couldn’t care less about our safety or constitutional rights. He only cares about pleasing Trump and expanding his power.

That’s why it’s urgent we collect as many signatures as we can for our emergency petition calling for Chad Wolf’s resignation. We must hold him accountable for allowing this gross abuse of power.
