Lead is a dangerous neurotoxin that harms every major system of the human body. There is no safe level of lead in drinking water, and it is especially dangerous for children. Lead exposure can lead to developmental disorders, damage to the nervous system and blood cells, low birthweights, and many other harms. Communities need every dollar to replace toxic lead service lines with safer copper lines. However, this spending legislation aims to eliminate $125 million in funding to replace lead pipes that Congress already approved in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Your Representative needs to hear from you right now: Support safe, clean, and lead-free water. Our activism in 2025 made a significant impact! Last year, we blocked attempts to repeal the Lead Out of Water Rule, which requires the replacement of lead service lines. And just this week, cuts to clean water funding in the spending bill have been lessened. But there’s still more work to be done… Now, we’re urging Congress to remove the provision in the spending bill that eliminates existing funding for lead service line replacement. Let’s keep the pressure on to protect safe, lead-free water ahead of the vote this week! Onward together,
