Friend,
Five years ago today, our country watched in horror as MAGA extremists
violently stormed the United States Capitol. Donald Trump stood by and did
nothing—allowing an attack on our democracy to unfold in real time.
What happened on January 6th shocked and saddened the nation. And five years
later, the danger to our democracy has not subsided.
There are still January 6th sympathizers serving in Congress. Donald Trump has
been returned to office. And his administration has now issued “full, complete,
and unconditional” pardons to individuals who participated in the
insurrection—sending a dangerous signal that political violence can be excused.
Since returning to the presidency, Donald Trump has continued to act
recklessly, including deploying U.S. forces abroad without congressional
authorization or notification. These actions undermine the Constitution, erode
congressional oversight, and put our country at risk.
That’s why this moment matters. If we flip the House, Democrats can restore
accountability, reassert Congress’s constitutional authority, and bring
stability back to Washington. Doing that requires competing—and winning—in the
races that will decide control of the House, and that work depends on
grassroots supporters stepping up right now.
I’m committed to holding Donald Trump accountable and defending our democracy,
but I can’t do it alone. Can you chip in today to help us get off on the right
foot for 2026—so we have the resources we need to flip critical seats, stand up
to extremism, and protect our democratic institutions from further harm?

Today, I also want to honor the U.S. Capitol Police officers who lost their
lives, and those who were violently attacked while protecting the Capitol and
our democratic process. We owe them more than remembrance—we owe them action.
I will always fight to protect our democracy.
