Republican Representative Ryan Mackenzie has continued to vote against his constituents’ interests.
Hi,
On January 6, 2021, Donald Trump and his allies tried to overturn the will of the voters and block the peaceful transfer of power. And Ryan Mackenzie aligned himself with that effort.
After the 2020 presidential election, Mackenzie supported lawsuits and efforts to overturn Pennsylvania’s election results. He later urged Congress to reject Pennsylvania’s electoral votes on January 6, and has bragged about his involvement.
Despite that extremist record, in 2024, Republican Representative Ryan Mackenzie defeated his Democratic opponent by just 4,062 votes, or 1% of the vote, in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District. With a margin that close, the Swing Left community has the power to make a big difference in this year’s election by helping the eventual Democratic nominee.
Since he was elected, Mackenzie has continued to vote against his constituents’ interests:
- He supported a budget proposal that would take away health care from 72,000 Medicaid beneficiaries and food assistance from 40,000 households in his district
- He voted for a spending bill that wiped out millions of dollars in funding for local infrastructure, leaving critical safety, flood control, and opioid interception projects in the district on hold
- He has a long record of opposing the Affordable Care Act, and only recently flip-flopped to support an extension of the program’s tax credits once he recognized the political danger of allowing them to expire
But a late flip-flop on health care won’t be enough to save him if we put in the work to flip this district:
- Three separate independent analysts have all rated PA-07 as a “Toss Up,” with Sabato’s Crystal Ball identifying it as a presidential bellwether district since it voted for the Electoral College winner in the past five presidential elections
- The district’s Partisan Voter Index is just R+1, meaning it just barely leans to the right. It’s the kind of district that’s flippable if we make the early investments in organizing and voter contact that will be needed to help the Democratic nominee win
PA-07 is one of 33 House swing districts that the Swing Left community is targeting this November, with the outcome in those battlegrounds determining whether Democrats regain control of the House.
But the work can’t wait until the fall—it starts now. Early investments mean stronger field programs and more time to connect with the voters who will determine who wins in these districts.
That’s why today, we’re asking you to split a donation of $25, or any amount that makes sense for you, between Swing Left and all 33 of our House targets, including PA-07.
Your contribution supports Swing Left’s national organizing work, including our innovative voter contact program, Ground Truth. It also allows campaigns to go on offense on day one of the general election: hiring staff, running ads, and reaching voters sooner before Republicans go on the attack.

Thank you as always for your support. Together, we will flip the districts needed to help Democrats win back the House and put a real legislative check on Donald Trump’s agenda.
