Team,

One of the most egregiously gerrymandered proposed maps in the country is no more.

Last month, the Indiana State Senate rejected a mid-decade gerrymander that would’ve given Republicans more congressional seats and silenced voters.

Through a bipartisan vote, which included a majority of Republicans, leaders in Indiana rejected this extreme map from President Trump and his anti-democratic coalition. Legislators stood up despite threats of violence against them and their families, and Trump administration vows to strip federal funding from Indiana.

As AG Holder said, “the courage demonstrated by legislators in Indiana is a hopeful sign and perhaps an indication that the commitment to democracy will outweigh partisan loyalty heading into 2026.”

This is a major rebuttal to the nationwide redistricting crisis. And we will need more responses just like it in this new year, especially as states like Florida, New Hampshire, and others could begin the process of redrawing their congressional maps this month.

Give today to strengthen the organizational and political power of NDRC to stop anti-democratic efforts to reshape our maps and rig the midterms in 2026. [[link removed]]

This win shows that, while the Trump administration and Republican leaders are putting intense pressure on states to gerrymander, mobilized efforts from voters are working.

Still, we know that this fight is far from over.

In the year ahead, President Trump will encourage more efforts to gerrymander. Our collective action must continue to sound the alarm and prevent lawmakers from stripping fair representation from voters across the country.

Our next step is to ensure that what happened in Indiana isn’t just a one-off victory, but a signaling point for more action to end this power grab. Are you in? Make a gift to help empower voters to fight back against Trump’s gerrymandering scheme. [[link removed]]

Thank you for making wins like the one we saw in Indiana possible,

Team NDRC
