John, Houston’s families have carried more than their share of uncertainty over the past year.

Without representation in Congress, families experiencing immigration emergencies, disaster recovery, healthcare appeals, or small business challenges had nowhere to turn for help. That was not an accident. It was the direct result of Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to delay giving this community a voice.

Amanda Edwards understands what this means in real life. When her father was diagnosed with cancer, her family faced the constant fear that insurance might not cover treatment and that they could lose everything. Far too many Texas families live with that same reality — one unexpected setback away from financial collapse.

Amanda is running to change this. She has dedicated her public service to expanding opportunity for small businesses, strengthening public transit, and increasing access to capital for women and minority entrepreneurs. She has approached governing with preparation, diligence, and a sincere commitment to responsibility.

We have also seen her leadership during moments of crisis. During Hurricane Harvey, Amanda went door to door checking on families, ensuring that seniors and neighbors who were trapped in their homes had food, medication, and access to emergency resources. That is what representation requires: responsiveness, compassion, and practical support.

The stakes of this runoff are clear. If Houston wants a representative who shows up, listens, and delivers, Amanda must have the resources to reach voters throughout this district.
