Without a shred of evidence, President Trump claimed massive fraud and insisted he won the 2020 election in a landslide — even after more than 60 courts ruled otherwise.

Trump’s deadly lies led to a brutal and bloody attack on our Capitol and put lives at risk. Rioters stormed our Capitol armed with weapons — using the Trump flag, even our American flag to beat and bloody Capitol Police officers. More than five people died as a result of Trump's darkly inspired insurrection.

Tomorrow marks five years since January 6th, 2021, when our nation’s capital was attacked by an armed mob.

I was at the Capitol that day. I’ll never forget the terrifying sound of banging on the chamber doors, the panicked calls to my husband and my sons, and the violence that erupted as a result of the lies spread by Donald Trump.

The January 6th insurrection was a domestic terrorist attack incited by a president who could not accept his defeat — and it has left lasting pain. [[link removed]]

In the immediate aftermath of the attack, I served as an impeachment manager for Trump's second impeachment. It was a solemn honor to hold the President accountable for his part in the insurrection — to indict him for his high crimes against our country.

In the five years that have followed, Donald Trump and his allies are only bolder in their attempts to undermine our freedoms and the rule of law. But we are a nation of laws — and I will continue to fight for and uphold our country’s founding principles.
