I was honored to serve in the Minnesota National Guard for nearly 32 years with the last five years of my career culminating as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader. I retired in 2019 and became a volunteer host/co-host for Minnesota Military Radio. After having the chance to interview MDVA leadership and learn more about the mission, I was inspired to begin searching for opportunities within MDVA and joined the agency in February 2023 as the Benefits Division Supervisor.
In my current role as the Deputy Director of Veterans Benefits, I have the privilege of leading a team of dedicated professionals, many of whom have also served in the military. That shared background creates a strong sense of purpose and reinforces the values that guide our work. I am committed to leadership development, continuous improvement and ensuring our programs operate with efficiency, integrity and care. I believe that when we invest in our own growth, we are better equipped to serve Minnesota’s Veterans.
What motivates me most is MDVA’s mission. Serving those who raised their right hand to defend our freedom is both an honor and a responsibility. Every day, I am reminded that our work has a meaningful impact on Veterans and their families.
