John,
Five years ago today, I stood on the House floor, sheltered behind a bulletproof chair, as violent insurrectionists stormed the Capitol in an attempt to disrupt our democracy.
As the deadly attack on January 6, 2021 unfolded, the nation watched in disbelief. What happened inside our Capitol that day made painfully clear just how fragile our democracy can be, and how close we came to losing it altogether. It also made clear the threat that Donald Trump and the extremism he fueled pose to our democratic institutions.
And yet, even as we remember the attack on our democracy, we must also remember that democracy endured. It held because of the courage of those who upheld the rule of law. That resilience calls on all of us to reject the hatred, lies, and political violence, and to meet this moment with honesty and resolve.
And for our democracy to fully heal, we need leaders willing to put partisanship aside and work in good faith for the betterment of those they represent.
My record reflects that commitment. I have always worked to defend democratic norms, uphold the rule of law, and serve with integrity. I am asking for your continued support to help defend this critical frontline seat and to restore trust, accountability, and respect for democracy in the House. If you’re able, can you chip in today?
Thank you,
Frank Mrvan
