As a veteran wounded in combat, I know what it means to fight for our country. And as a public servant, I understand my grave responsibility to keep our troops safe.

That’s why I am fighting Trump’s illegal war in Venezuela.

I voted last month for a defense authorization bill to restrict the president’s ability to enact war without Congressional approval. And I voted twice in favor of war powers resolutions to rein in this out-of-control president. The American people know that Maduro is a terrible human being and has caused great harm to his people and to our country. The American people also know that we can’t afford to wage a new “forever war.” I stood up against the Iraq war from day one and I will continue to stand with the American people now. I won’t risk the lives of our troops to advance this president’s oil interests.

The Speaker of the House needs to bring up a vote so we can stop Trump in his tracks.

I’m fighting Trump on every front: In Congress, in the courts, and in the court of public opinion. Democratic leadership selected me to help lead our Rapid Response and Litigation Task Force because I’m combat-tested. And they know that our community is a leader in this fight for our democracy.

Democrats are unified, and we need your help to finish this fight.
