The good news continues for Joe Biden. A recent Washington Post/ABC poll shows Biden leading President Trump 55-40 among registered voters.

But in 2016, Hillary Clinton also had a double-digit advantage in July -- and she still lost to Donald Trump that November.

Close to a 100 million voters chose to stay home on Election Day in 2016 -- and Trump, despite losing the popular vote by 3 million votes, took the Electoral College by winning Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania by a combined 80,000 votes.
