Today is the fifth anniversary of the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters who, along with hundreds of GOP members of Congress, tried to stop Joe Biden’s legitimate election win from being certified.

And today, there is a MAGA election denier and insurrection accomplice roaming the halls of the Senate freely: unelected Sen. Ashley Moody.

Moody’s insurrection rap sheet is lengthy. She should never have been allowed inside the halls of the Capitol.

As Florida Attorney General, Ashley Moody was one of the first to sign on to Texas’ nonsense lawsuit asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the results of the 2020 election:

And as a high-ranking leader of the right-wing “Rule of Law Defense Fund,” Moody actually helped organize transportation to get rioters to the Capitol on January 6 to disrupt the electoral vote count. 

After the January 6 Capitol insurrection, Moody tried to scrub her association with the group.

But the blood of the people who died that day are on her hands and the hands of every MAGA liar and conspiracy theorist who fanned the flames of Trump’s extremism.  

We won’t forget. And we don’t forgive. 

We’re going on offense to defeat ultra-MAGA election denier Ashley Moody. This is the aggressive posture that the Democratic Party needs to adopt to win back crucial swing states like Florida. 

What we do right now to toss Ashley Moody into the dustbin of history is absolutely crucial to stop Trump’s authoritarian impulses and save our democracy.
