Over the weekend, Donald Trump unilaterally and unlawfully bombed Venezuela. He did not seek Congressional approval and single-handedly launched us into another global conflict.

Derrick Van Orden and Donald Trump promised to be “America First” and to end the longstanding waste of our tax dollars bombing other countries based on fabricated stories all in the pursuit of foreign oil. Despite that, President Trump put American lives at stake all for the financial gain of his ultra-wealthy donors.

Just weeks ago, Trump pardoned former Honduran President – and convicted drug lord – Juan Orlando Hernández, proving that the President has no interest in protecting Americans from the harms of the drug trade or rooting out dictatorships.

The decision to enter this conflict after failing to secure healthcare subsidies cannot be overstated. Our tax dollars are going towards weapons and war in pursuit of oil, while folks here at home are struggling to cover the rising cost of their healthcare.

This was about stealing oil while telling the American people we can’t afford healthcare. No more invasions. No more sending Americans off to die in forever wars. America First means taking care of the people here at home. America First means investing in American Healthcare, American Infrastructure, American Schools, American Jobs.

If I go to Congress, I’m committed to ending the forever wars, to holding those responsible for this accountable, and to take care of our communities here at home.
