Five years ago, I was in Washington as a violent insurrectionist mob, driven by a lie about a stolen election, stormed the Capitol. It was a day that tested the very foundations of our democracy.

Now, we’re one year into Donald Trump’s second term, and that foundation is still being shaken. We’ve watched as this President has acted without regard for the Constitution, ignored Congress, and used chaos as a governing strategy.

On this somber anniversary, we’re reminded why this fight matters — and why we can’t back down.

This November, we have the chance to put a check on the chaos. To elect leaders who will fight to restore stability, protect our democracy, and put the American people first.

But it will take all of us.I need you to stand with me and my fellow House Democrats as we continue to fight extremism, demand accountability, and defend the principles that were attacked five years ago today.
