Dear Health Advocates,

Happy New Year! We at Families USA hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to get back to work as we jump right back into advocacy.

In December, House Democrats were joined by 4 Republicans in passing a discharge petition to bring a clean three-year extension of the enhanced premium tax credits to the floor. The House could vote on this bill as soon as tomorrow. It is unclear whether enough Republicans will vote for the bill to pass the House, or if they will coalesce around a more conservative bill supported by House Republican leadership.

Stop the Healthcare Heist Emergency Week of Action

Around this vote, the Economic Security Project is hosting a Stop the Healthcare Heist Week of Action from January 6-15, with a specific focus on a vote in the House this week. The following actions will help us ensure our voices are heard during this crucial time:

  • Before the vote (Jan 6 - Jan 8) - Public pressure and storytelling
    • Call your members by calling in to the Capitol Switchboard and requesting your member at (202) 224-3121
    • Email your members using CHN Action's form!
  • Day of the vote (Jan 8) - Social media day of action
    • Tag your member
    • Use #HealthcareHeist
    • Use graphics supplied by Economic Security Project
  • After the vote - Public feedback and more organized actions
    • Continue to thank those who championed affordability and call out those who voted against it
    • Should House vote pass, shift focus to your Senators
      • Email using CHN Action's form
      • Call the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121

You can find the full toolkit, talking points, and graphics at this link. Please reach out to Jennifer Kim ([email protected]) with any questions.
