Jami Floyd for Congress - NY12

Dear John,

No one is mourning the removal of a dictator like Maduro, but only Congress has the authority to decide if, when, and where the United States goes to war.

Anything less strips the American people of their voice and threatens the foundation of our democracy. And that’s exactly what happened this week in Venezuela.

“We’re going to run the country,” Trump stated, as Maduro and his wife were whisked to New York, where they had been indicted.

If I were in Congress, the journalist in me wants answers to these 5 basic questions:

  • How is Trump going to run Venezuela without troops on the ground?
  • How is change possible with Maduro’s top aides still in place? (It sounds to me like the chaos we’ve seen before in Iraq, Libya, and even Trump’s last term, when he was cutting deals with the Taliban in Afghanistan.)
  • How do we allow a US president to make an illegal attack on a sovereign nation without Congressional approval?
  • What verifiable evidence supports Trump’s claims of "narcoterrorism" and the specific targets?
  • And how will we now keep other nations like China from taking over Taiwan or Russia from continuing the incursion into Ukraine?
STAND WITH JAMI

We can’t EVER tolerate Trump and his sycophants in Congress running roughshod over the Constitution to get us embroiled in another longstanding regime change war.

I’m heading to Congress to ask the right questions, demand answers, and insist presidents obey the law.

Support New Leadership

Sincerely,

 - Jami
