Five years ago today, our democracy was attacked when violent insurrectionists stormed the Capitol.
I served on the original January 6th Committee to uncover what truly happened that painful day, and I saw firsthand the evidence, the testimony, and the truth: Donald Trump incited the insurrection in a desperate attempt to cling to power.
That committee produced an 800+ page report laying out exactly what happened and who was responsible.
On fifth anniversary of the attack, I’m taking a moment to reflect on what we accomplished, and I’m grateful for my colleagues on the committee: Democrats Bennie Thompson, Adam Schiff, Pete Aguilar, Stephanie Murphy, Jamie Raskin, Elaine Luria; and two brave Republicans, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.
But now, Republicans are trying to make a mockery of our work. They’ve launched a sham, partisan “re-investigation” designed to whitewash history, attack witnesses, and shield Trump from facing the consequences of his actions.
I won’t allow them to get away with this, John. I will always fight to defend the truth, uphold the Constitution, and ensure that January 6th is never minimized, rewritten, or forgotten.
But in order to hold Republicans accountable, Democrats must retake the House and stop Trump’s trifecta.
So on this solemn anniversary, I’m asking you to stand with me. Will you donate to my re-election campaign and help elect Democrats who will defend our democracy along with me?
