In the aftermath of the deadly January 6 Capitol insurrection, MAGA Rep. Paul Gosar decried that the FBI was "harassing peaceful patriots" by investigating those who participated in the insurrection.

Peaceful patriots don’t attack cops, break windows, and call for the death of their political opponents.

Peaceful patriots don’t resort to violence when the party they support loses an election. 

Peaceful patriots don’t deny the results of a national election simply because their side lost. 

Real patriots don’t lie, cheat, and steal to gain power. They earn it through trust, persuasion, and hard work. 

January 6 rioters betrayed America. Full stop.

What happened that day was an act of domestic terrorism to try and stop the peaceful transfer of power in our democracy. 

The right of the American people to choose their own leaders freely and without threats or violence is exactly why real patriots, like the ones I am proud to have served with in the Navy, put their lives on the line. We do it for freedom, not for Donald Trump or any one person.
