[1]Juliana Stratton for Senate

Team,

Five years ago today, violent insurrectionists stormed our nation’s Capitol in an attempt to overturn a free and fair election and block the peaceful transfer of power at the behest of Donald Trump.

It was a day that changed our country — a moment that revealed just how fragile our democracy can be when leaders choose power over principle. And five years later, it still stands as a warning of what happens when authoritarianism goes unchecked.

But January 6 is not just a story about fear or chaos. It is also a reminder and lesson of courage.

That day, heroes like Officer Eugene Goodman as the U.S. Capitol defended our nation’s Capitol with bravery and resilience. And Americans across parties stood up for our Constitution and affirmed a powerful truth: in this country, the will of the people matters.

But most importantly, it also taught us that we must stand up and fight for our democracy, because it’s not guaranteed. It is something we must choose — and protect — every single day. Not just in moments of crisis, and not just when it’s convenient. With action. With courage. With accountability.

In the five years since, the threats to our democracy have not disappeared. They’ve grown louder and more dangerous.

Every day, I wake up focused on how we move our country forward; how we defend democracy while delivering real results for working families. I believe leadership means standing up, speaking out, and refusing to look the other way when our values are under attack.

That’s why I’m running for the United States Senate: to be a leader who will defend our democracy fiercely and fight just as hard for the people it’s meant to serve.

On this January 6, we remember what’s at stake. And we recommit ourselves to the work ahead.

If you’re with me in this fight — for democracy, for dignity, and for working people — I hope you’ll consider contributing to help me take on Donald Trump and defend our democracy in Washington.

When we stand together in defense of our democracy, there is nothing we cannot overcome.

With gratitude,
