JOHN,

Today marks five years since we witnessed a coordinated, violent assault on the United States Capitol and the law enforcement officers sworn to protect it. It was a day defined by lawlessness, fueled by lies, and designed to tear down the very foundations of our Country.

But we must be clear: what happened on January 6th five years ago did not end when the glass was swept up, or the insurrectionists were cleared from the halls of Congress.

The integrity of our elections is the foundation of our democracy. We cannot allow the history of January 6th to be erased or rewritten.

And now, I have an opponent who didn’t just watch the events of January 6th unfold, but participated in that attempt to undermine our democratic process. By siding with those who sought to throw out legal votes and subvert the rule of law, he showed a dangerous disregard for the democratic principles our nation was founded on.

I am fighting every day to fortify our system against those who believe they are above the law. We cannot afford to be complacent while the bedrock of our nation is under constant siege by partisan extremism.

I refuse to accept a future where political violence and subversion are the norms. We must build a government that earns the faith of its people by standing firmly for the rule of law and the sanctity of the vote.

The work of protecting our democracy is never finished. And we must never forget the courage of the officers who stood their ground that day. Thank you for standing with me in this fight.
