Trump and his Homeland Security chief Chad Wolf are planning to deploy hundreds of federal officers beginning in Chicago, Albuquerque, and Kansas City as part of the new program, Operation Legend. This is an absolute disgrace and sickening abuse of power.

They say the program is to address a “sudden surge of violent crime” but the truth is Operation Legend is just another excuse for this administration to send armed forces in our streets and terrorize anyone who challenges their White Nationalist agenda.

We saw how Trump sent secret, unmarked federal officers to snatch protestors off the streets and detain people without reason in Portland, Oregon. We saw how protestors were violently confronted by police officers under White House orders. We refuse to wait and see Trump expand his regime of terror any further.

This is an authoritarian nightmare, John.

From the beginning of Trump’s presidency, he has constantly tested how far he can go. Again, he’s using the same kind of rhetoric and reasoning his campaign used to vilify immigrants and militarize our border to promote Operation Legend. There is no end, or no bottom with Trump — he will cross any line if it helps incite division and increase his reelection chances.

When Chad Wolf was asked about future plans to deploy more officers he responded saying, “I don't need invitations by the state, state mayors, or state governors to do our job. We're going to do that, whether they like us there or not.” Ordering the occupation of US cities is beyond unacceptable.

Chad Wolf’s plan to expand Operation Legend is a direct threat against our right to protest, our constitution, and our democracy, which was built through resistance and freedom of assembly. Allowing unmarked, armed forces on our streets puts anyone who doesn’t agree with Trump’s agenda at risk — especially Black, brown, and immigrant communities.

Chad Wolf has made it clear he couldn’t care less about our safety or constitutional rights. He only cares about pleasing Trump and expanding his power. Please sign our emergency petition now calling for his resignation.
