John —
Five years ago, our nation watched in horror as violent insurrectionists stormed the Capitol. January 6th wasn’t just an attack on our Capitol building — it was an assault on democracy itself.
Donald Trump organized that mob in a desperate attempt to overturn the results of a free and fair election. It was an attack on the rule of law, on free elections, and on the very America we believe in.
January 6th was a wake-up call. It exemplified the true danger of MAGA extremism. But most of all, it proved that our democracy is fragile.
I’ve witnessed firsthand the consequences of unchecked lies and authoritarianism. My twin brother and I blew the whistle on Trump’s attempt to extort Ukraine, a decision that cost me my lifelong military career. Yet, I would make the same choice again — because defending our democracy is always worth the sacrifice.
But now, under Donald Trump’s presidency, our country faces the threat of authoritarianism at his hands. Last year tested our democracy like never before. We saw Trump abuse his power, rig Congressional maps in his favor, silence critics, attack health care and food benefits, and double down on authoritarianism. MAGA extremism is no longer a fear; it is a direct threat to our institutions, our freedoms, and the rule of law. It's turned authoritarian.
John, I’ve stood up to Trump before, and I don’t plan on stopping. In my time in Congress, I’ve faced MAGA extremism head-on and held truth to power — but to Trump, that’s terrifying.
He doesn't want me telling the truth, so he’s trying to settle the score. He’s been attacking me nonstop, even launching a sham investigation into me because I dared to hold him accountable again. But I won’t be silenced. In moments like these, when Trump’s authoritarianism is rampant, I need you by my side. To fend off these attacks. To hold this seat. And to flip the House blue and put an end to Trump’s unchecked abuse of power.

January 6th showed us that our democracy isn’t guaranteed — it’s something we must fight for every single day. Together, we’ll make sure this upcoming chapter in our history isn’t the end of democracy — it’s the beginning of its resurgence.
Let’s get to work.
