We have multiple canvassing events coming up this weekend and the next! Join us as we reach out to Houstonians, share important information about their rights, and offer resources to support our immigrant communities. Fight to demand the city defend immigrants! No Shortcuts: Organizing For Power Workshop! Learn how to build organizing power with us this January

Join Houston DSA for the second of a three session workshop on Jane McAlevey’s, No Shortcuts: Organizing For Power In the New Gilded Age. McAlevey and her work have influenced democratic movements winning real power for the working class, from Starbucks baristas to public school teachers to workers fighting to make their unions more responsive! We’ll examine our work in DSA, how we can build real material power, and how to win a better world.

This Saturday, Jan. 10th, we will be focusing on  “Chapter 2: The Power to Win is in the Community, Not the Boardroom” and “Chapter 3., Nursing Home Unions: Class Snuggle vs. Class Struggle”. Please read before attending.

And for our final workshop on January 17th, we will be discussing “Chapter 4., Chicago Teachers: Building a Resilient Union”, “Chapter 5. Smithfield Foods: A Huge Success You’ve Hardly Heard About”, and “Chapter 7. Conclusion: Pretend Power vs. Actual Power". Please read before attending.

All are welcome to attend the session without reading but you will not be able to fully engage in the workshop.
